Letters and Teeth

Penelope is fascinated with letters. She likes to point them out and say "this" - which is basically asking us to name which letter it is. She knows a few already - "O", "C", and "A"... sometimes she gets "S" & "R" correct.

And Griffin is teething - his two bottom teeth have almost broken through the gums!

I have 2 seconds

Swim lessons - going well, Penny loves the water

Gymnastics - awesome, Poe is able to jump on the trampoline on her own

Griffin - getting big, we're still supplementing (about 12 ounces a day)

School - all A's so far after G's birth, sweet!

Student teaching - starts in a month!

Job search - still trying, no luck :(

The house is a mess, we're busy beyond belief, I spend so much time nursing I loose track of time, Griffin still sleeps primarily on (or next) to me, Penelope has entered the Terrible Twos with gusto, and Bryan is doing well in school.

More later? Maybe.

3 month growth charts

So obviously last month when I guesstimated Griffin's weight by subtracting my weight from our combined weight on a bathroom scale I was way off. Way. Otherwise G only gained 6oz in one month which I refuse to believe - it's infinitely more likely that last month's measurement was wonky.

Regardless, he hasn't gained as much as I'd like. I was really hoping he'd be close to 15 lbs. Hopefully he'll be there next month. I really hate worrying so much about his weight - just when I think breastfeeding is getting easy I feel like I get set-back with more issues. I wish this whole thing was easier...

At least he's growing UP like he should. Or rather, like a weed. 27" is pretty long for a 3 month old.

So here are the charts:

Happy 3 months

So tomorrow Griffin will be three months old. I am mostly ecstatic about this milestone since the newborn phase and I get along like... well, like two things that don't really get along at all. But I am a little sad as well. He's our last baby and we'll never again experience this "4th Trimester".

I go in tomorrow to get him weighed, I'll measure him as well. I'll also do my best to take more pictures, I've been lax lately.

He's rolling over, which is annoying in the middle of the night when I'm trying to nurse him. He's a VERY smiley baby and has the most adorable smiles. He's talkative, wiggly, loves to interact with people, and wants nothing to do with any of his toys.

We're down to 6oz of supplement a day, which is wonderful. I do wish we could drop the bottle, but it is what it is. We're still very fortunate to have moms who are pumping for us, so Griffin still only gets breastmilk.

We're still waiting for his first bellylaugh. He laughs a lot, but still no bellylaugh... I can't wait, I love baby laughs.

Tomorrow we take him to his first major league baseball game. Should be fun!

As for the Pen-o-potamous, she's doing well. She has a ton of new words (more than I can count) and other than the occasionally scream-fest (in frequencies only dogs can hear) she's a really well behaved 19 month old.

There's probably a ton more I can say, but I forget. It's hard to remember when so much is going on...

Oh, I got an A in my first class back from maternity leave... and Bryan is still doing well in class. I think he has a 3.8 GPA right now.

More later - hopefully :)

Dinner FAIL and the 4th of July

Tonight's dinner was pretty terrible. It was going to be Greek pasta, but I was out of feta so it was home-made mac & cheese with fresh veggies only I added WAY too much mozzarella and the cheese sauce was more chunky than cheesy.

Oh well. Lesson learned.

So this weekend was the 4th of July weekend and we had a lot of fun. We headed over to Maddox's house and met up with Lucy and Orson as well (and their parents of course!) :) Maddox's neighborhood had a kid parade and then a festival-thing at the park so we walked the parade route and then hung out at the park. There was music, games, bounce houses, and food. The kids had a really good time. Penny wasn't too sure about the bounce house but she rocked out to the live band and had a hot dog, a couple of chips, AND some ice cream. There's nothing like junk food to say "Happy Birthday America".

Here's some pictures:

In brief - with pictures

Today Penelope got a blanket and covered her sleeping brother with it. Too fricking cute.

Today was also the first time that I left Griffin at my parents. Really the first time I've left him at all - I went to a student teaching interview a month after his birth but that only lasted an hour and a half or so. This time we left him for over 3 hours to go see a movie. We saw "Grown Ups" which was terrible (although funny in parts), but it was nice to have a little break from the craziness of two under two and spend some time with my husband :)

Soon I'll be ready to leave him for an overnight... well, in a month or so. Maybe two.

Today was also another fun pool day at Olivia's (P's friend). We had a metric ton of fun, P is now a bronzed goddess and yesterday Griffin went swimming for the first time (well, I stuck his feet & butt in - he was not impressed).

We're so lucky to have so many amazing mommy & baby friends (and daddies too!!). I honestly don't know how I would get through without them. They keep us busy and make the days so much more fun! Here are some pictures of Penny and her friends.
